VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Hi-Liners softball team had a pair of games on Saturday. Hi-Liners hosted Shanley in the morning and win that game 22-1. Valley City then hosted Grand Forks Central in the afternoon and the Knights came away with the 13-3.

Game 1: Valley City 22 Shanley 1
What a morning it was for the Hi-Liners. The weather may have been chilly but the Valley City bats were on fire. Hi-Liners offense would put up 6 runs in the first, 9 in the second, and 7 in the 3rd innings on their way to the big win. In the big offensive performance Autumn McGough would blast a 2-run home run in the bottom of the second inning. McGough, Emma Langemo, Sydney Larsen, Dylan Diegel, and Kinlee Sufficool would all cross the plate 3-times. Jada Nelson and Bailey Leroux would score twice. On the mound, the Hi-Liners got an excellent pitching performance from Sydney Larsen. The righty would go the full 5 innings, giving up just 1-run and striking out 4.
Game 2: GF Central 13 Valley City 3
In the afternoon portion of the Hi-Liners Saturday they welcome Grand Forks Central to town to make up their game that was postponed on Thursday. Valley City would strike first in the bottom of the 1st inning thanks to a pair of RBI singles from Bailey Leroux and Emma Langemo. The Knights would battle back and tie the game up 2-2 in the top of the 3rd inning. Bailey Leroux would put the Hi-Liners back in front with  solo blast in the home half of the third to give Valley City the 3-2 lead. However, that would be it for the Hi-Liner offense. Unfortunately the Knights offense was just heating up. GF Central would tie up the game in the 4th inning with a solo home run of their own. But in this game it was the 5th inning that was the crucial blow against the Hi-Liners. The Knights would score 6 runs in the top of the 5th to lead 9-3. Grand Forks Central would add 3 more in the 6th and another in the 7th to win 13-3.
Next up for the Hi-Liners, they will be on the road on Tuesday to start their EDC torunament. As of now their opponent and location is TBD.
