Lexington NAACP demand investigation into police conduct

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – Lexington’s NAACP chapter is demanding an investigation of the local Lexington Police Department’s handling of the fatal stabbing of two children by their own mother.

The organization wrote to the city council to request the Lexington police be held accountable.

The letter questioned if the police could have done more to prevent the deaths of 13-year-old Deon Williams and 5-year-old Skyler Williams.

Police said they were stabbed to death in their Lexington home by their mother one day after a welfare check.

Lexington Police Department has responded by affirming their officers did a welfare check and did not witness anyone having a mental health crisis.

They also said they did not have reasonable grounds to believe the mother was mentally ill or posed a threat.
