Man dies after being struck by train

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS/WSRP) — A Springfield man died after being struck by a train on Friday night.

According to the Sangamon County Coroner, the 41-year-old man was hit on a railway north of 9th St. and east of Converse St.
The coroner said the man was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:30 p.m.
His identity will be released pending next of kin notification.
An autopsy has been scheduled for May 21, 2022.
