Nestor Cortes ended the top of the third by forcing AJ Pollock to fly out to left field, where infielder Gleyber Torres was waiting to camp under the final out of the inning.
That’s right, Torres, patrolling left field with the Yanks deploying a four-man outfield, something the Yanks have been using more often this season. Torres, having one of the best defensive seasons of his career at second base, looked like a natural in left, camping under the flyout before tossing the ball to a fan.
It took a second to realize exactly what was going on, but that isn’t a sight you’re used to seeing. For the record, in the box score, it is still a F4.
