Suspect Arrested for Terroristic Threat That Shut Down Lamesa Schools Friday

 

LAMESA – The Lamesa Independent School District has canceled the last half-day of school Friday due to a terroristic threat.

Lamesa ISD said in a social media post:

LISD acting on an abundance of caution will cancel the last ½ day of school on Friday, May 20th. This evening LISD administrators have been made aware of a potential terroristic threat to the school. The safety of our students is our top priority.

LISD will however continue to conduct all senior activities including graduation on Friday. Lamesa Police Department and Sheriff’s department along with LISD School Resource Officers will be vigilant and around campus on Friday and through graduation ceremonies.

Friday morning, a suspect was arrested and is in custody.
