Rudy Gobert is deep into a long offseason rest, with the Utah Jazz already out of NBA title contention as early as the first round where they got ousted in six games by Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks — the same team that just got walloped Friday night by the Golden State Warriors, thanks in part to the surprising performance of Kevon Looney.
Gobert seems to have loved what his fellow big men did to the Mavs, as he quoted a tweet that lauded Looney for churning out a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds while shooting 10/14 from the field in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals.

Of course, that minor social media activity by Gobert was going to be interpreted by some as a hint to a potential Gobert trade to the Warriors, a rumor that has been in circulation for weeks. However, what's closer to the truth is the idea that Gobert will be staying put in Salt Lake City for at least one more season, with the Jazz apparently interested in having “multiple players” from the team playing in the 2023 All-Star Game, which will be held in Utah.
Gobert will not be a free agent until at least the end of the 2025-26 season when he has a choice to make on whether to pick up or not a player option worth $46.65 million.
