BETHEL TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – One person is dead following a crash involving an SUV and a pick-up truck in Branch County’s Bethel Township late Friday afternoon.
The fatal accident occurred at the intersection of Gilead Lake Road and Sikorski Road Friday around 5:35 p.m.
Michigan State Police say the driver of the SUV was traveling east bound on Sikorski Road when the vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection. The SUV struck a pickup truck traveling southbound on Gilead Lake Road, causing both vehicles to leave the roadway into the east side ditch.
The lone passenger in the pick-up truck was fatally injured in the crash.
The drivers of both vehicles were transported to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo in critical condition.
Two passengers were transported to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital and were treated for their injuries and released.
The investigation is still ongoing, and no names have yet been released. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
