Heavy rains lead to flash flooding in southern Palm Beach County
BOCA RATON. IT’S FINALLY NOT RAINGNI AND THAT IS ALSO A WELCOME SITE HERE IN BOCA RATON. THE ROADS ARE FINALLY NOT FLOODED. THIS WAS A CRAZY WEATHER DAY HERE. SANTA LAURA WAS DRIVING TO WORK FRIDAY AFTERNOON IN A DOWNPOUR WHEN SUDDENL SHE WASN’T DRIVING ANYMORE. SHE WAS FLOATING STUCK ON A VERY FLOODED SECOND AVENUE IN BOCA RATON AS W SWAP WITH WITH LIKE YOU SEE THERE’S WATER. ATTH INSIDE OF MY CAR. IT WAS CRAZY. IT WAS REALLY HIGH. DANA WASN’T ALONE. LITERALLY SHE SHOWED US VIDEO OF OTHER CARS STUCK IN THE FLOOD ALL AROUND HER. OH MY GOD, HE WAS CRAZY. IT WAS WERAT ALL OVERHE T PLACE AND IT WASN’T JUST SECOND AVENUE. THIS IS NORTHWEST 4TH AVENUE NEAR NORTHWEST 19TH STREET CARS DRIVING THROUGH STANDING WATER ON THE ROAD. THE WATER WAS EVEN DEEPER ON FEDERAL HIGHWAY NEAR NORTHEAST 20TH STREET UP TO A FEW FTEE DEEP IN SOME PLACES LEAVING MULTIPLE CARS STUCK. DANIEL SLECHUBB SENT US THIS PHOTO OF HER CAR STOCK ON YAMATO ROAD THE WATER OVER THE FNTRO END OF HER CAR FRED SCHILLING SHARED THIS PHOTO WITH US. HE TELLS US THAT’S A VINTAGE CORVETTE ALMOST ENTIRELY SUBMERGED AND THEES PHOTOS ARE FROM KEITH WILLARD WHO WAS INSIDE THE BOCA RATON RESORT AND BEACH CLUB AS WATER STARTED POURING IN STAFF USED COUNTLESS TOWELS AND SHOP VACS TO TRY TO KEEP IT ALL DRY. CE THE RAIN FINALLY STOPPED TOW TRUCKS. GOT TO WORK TAKING ALL THOSE CARS OFF THE ROAD EVERY MINUTE. MY PHONE’S RINGING EVERY MINUTE NONSTOP SINCE WE WTAN TO CLOCK IN BED NON-STOP RINGING MAN, AND THERE IS SOME GOOD NEWS HERE. DESPITELL A THE RAINND A THE FLOODS AND THE STRANDED CARS. WE DID NOT RECEIVE ANY REPORTS OF INJURIES IN BOCA.

Heavy rains in southern Palm Beach County led to multiple flooded roads and many stranded vehicles.

Dana Telor was one of those people who found herself stuck.

She was driving to work on Second Avenue when suddenly, she wasn’t driving anymore.

She was floating.

“It was so high,” Telor said, while sitting in her car waiting for a tow truck. “There’s water inside of my car. It was crazy. It was really high.”

After she got stuck, Telor shot some video on her phone showing stuck cars all around her.

“It was crazy,” she said. “It was water all over the place.”

And it wasn’t just on Second Avenue.

Streets all around Boca Raton were underwater, including NW Fourth Avenue near NW 19thStreet, where cars were driving through the standing water.

The water was even deeper on Federal Hwy near NE 20th Street, up to a few feet deep in some places.

Multiple cars were stuck all along the road.

“Every minute, my phone’s ringing,” said Allen Cazius, owner of 55 Towing. “Since 1 o’clock, it’s been non-stop ringing.”
