Local Teenagers Injured in Friday Afternoon Crash

Knox County Crews responded to an accident with injuries on Friday involving five teenagers.

The accident was reported around 5:00 pm on US 50 near Robinson Road and involved one vehicle.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered the 17-year-old male driver had been traveling West on US 50 when for unknown reasons he crossed over the median and spun around in the east bound lanes. The vehicle then rolled over at least once before coming to rest in the median.

At least two of the 5 occupants were thrown from the vehicle. Among the occupants were a 15-year-old female and a 17-year-old male. Both were transported by ambulance to Daviess Community Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The other three were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in critical condition where they were stabilized and later transferred to surrounding hospitals by helicopter. Those transferred by helicopter include the 17-year-old male driver, a 17-year-old male passenger, and a 14-year-old female passenger.

The incident is currently under investigation and names will be officially released upon family notifications.
