An animal shelter on the Southside is in "desperate need" of finding temporary and forever for their fur babies.
The Martinsville Henry County SPCA says on its Facebook page that they "are slammed with dogs and cats and are having to turn people away."
The SPCA adds, "we are pulling from our local pounds as much as we can and adoptions at this time are slow."
The SPCA's Director Catherine Gupton says they are several reasons why adoption is slow. One of those reasons is that people are going back to work after the COVID-19 lockdown.
Gupton says on Saturday they will host an event at Petsense in Martinsville for people looking to adopt.
If you can't make it, she says you can contact them during their hours of operation.
Their hours of operation are Tuesdays to Fridays from noon to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m.
