Casey Madden has been attending Harley Spring Bike Week in Myrtle Beach for 13 years.
Earlier this week she took to Facebook, posting about why this one is holding a special place in her heart.
Casey Madden said every year, this is the trip she and her mom look forward to.
She packs her trailer and comes down from Greeneville, SC to celebrate Bike Week, but this year she made the ride down on her motorcycle, gearing up for her mom's last ride.
Staying at Atalaya Towers, laying on the beach and meeting other bikers is Murrells Inlet is something Madden and her mom, Sandy, planed on doing every year.
"I have been coming here with my mom since I was 21, when I was first old enough to drink, go out and have a good time," said Madden.
However, this year took an unexpected turn when her mom got sick in November.
Madden said, "she got really sick and was hospitalized and was diagnosed with stage four small cell lung cancer and she died within two weeks of the diagnosis."
She said it was sudden and she was all but prepared to lose her mom.
Describing her mom she called her, "The life of the party. She was a free spirit. If you weren't having a good time, she was gonna make sure you were having a good time. Everybody that was around loved her. She was really just larger than life. The best, really the best, so it's really hard to be here without her."
Bringing a piece of her mom here was something Madden said were her final wishes and ultimately, the last ride they would have together.
"I put a little bit of my mom in here and she rode down in the motorcycle with us the whole ride because motorcycles were her thing, the beach was her happy place, but bike week just made it ten times better for her," Madden said. "When she knew that she was coming towards the end, she knew. And she wanted to be cremated and she wanted to be left here."
