Beachside businesses could be in store for a big weekend as summer-like temperatures are expected this weekend.

Brian Braddish, who owns Riptides, is hoping the rainy weekends and empty boardwalk in Long Beach will soon be changing.

"I think everyone's looking forward to coming out to the Long Beach boardwalk just to get outside," Braddish says. "It might actually be the first beach weekend of the summer."

Bracco's Clam and Oyster Bar on the Nautical Mile in Freeport is also hoping for a busy weekend.

Owner Jerry Bracco says he needs the business following a wet spring and two years of COVID restrictions.

"It's important because we only have 15 to 20 weeks," Bracco says. "It's important that the weather's good on the weekends especially."

Customers who did show up even on the cloudy days like Roxanna Ramirez says she's expecting more company once the sun comes out.

Ramirez says the community needs to come out and support their vendors after a stressful two years.

Businesses will be open on the beaches, but lifeguards will not be on the stands yet at state beaches like Robert Moses and Jones Beach
