May 20 (UPI) -- An Alabama inmate who escaped custody with the help of a former corrections officer and was recaptured after a 11-day manhunt has been ordered to provide a DNA sample to prosecutors.

Casey White, 38, was ordered to give the sample Friday or "as soon as practicable," according to court documents obtained by local news outlet AL.com and CNN.

Casey White, who was facing capital murder charges for the 2015 stabbing death of Connie Ridgeway, has been charged with first-degree escape for his breakout from the Lauderdale County Jail in Alabama.

The request for his DNA sample was attached to his escape case, AL.com noted.

Casey White and former corrections officer Vicky White, 56, left the Lauderdale County Jail in Alabama around 9:30 a.m. on April 29 and were allegedly headed to court.

Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton said Vicky White was taking the inmate to a mental health evaluation at the time of the escape -- but later said there was not one scheduled.

A getaway car was found abandoned at around 1:50 p.m. on the day of the escape by the Williamson County Sheriff's Office in Tennessee, about 2 hours north of Lauderdale County.

Casey White and Vicky White, who were not related but suspected of being in a romantic relationship, were apprehended 11 days later on May 9 in Evansville, Ind. Vicky White shot herself dead after a brief car chase led to a rollover crash.

White was arrested and is being held in a state prison in Bessemer, Ala. He is scheduled to appear again in court on June 13 for the Ridgeway case.
