EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders schemer Janine Butcher will fear her devious antics are about to be uncovered next week.

Janine (Charlie Brooks) returned to form in recent scenes, conning Nancy and Zack out of the deposit for their new business venture.

Janine had offered Linda (Kellie Bright) a lump sum of money to leave Walford, keen to get her out of Mick's life forever.

Knowing she needed to come up with the goods, Janine hired a fake estate agent to greet Nancy and Zack, who piled on the pressure by asking them for a two-year deposit upfront to secure the building.

While Nancy and Zack excitedly transferred the money, little did they know that Janine had pretended to be Nancy and pulled out of the actual lease.

Unfortunately for Janine, her plan backfired anyway as Linda ultimately decided to stay – and made it clear she wasn't going to give back the money.

Linda will revel in winding up Janine about this in Monday's episode (May 23).

However, when Nancy tries to contact the estate agent about the restaurant building, Janine begins to panic that her lies are about to be exposed. Will the Carters discover what she's done?

That remains to be seen, but this latest development is ultimately paving the way for a huge story for the Carters over the summer.

Fans will already be aware that there is more drama to come in the Linda vs Janine feud over the summer, thanks to some recent paparazzi pictures showing the cast filming on location.

It's already been confirmed that Danny Dyer is bowing out of his role as Mick Carter at some point this year.

EastEnders airs these scenes on Monday, May 23 at 7.30pm on BBC One.
