According to Colin Cowherd, recent comments made by Alabama head coach Nick Saban regarding the recruiting practices of Texas A&M and head coach Jimbo Fisher is “fear talking” for the seven-time national champion.

Cowherd's comments come the day after Nick Saban apologized for marking remarks about Texas A&M's most recent recruiting class where the Aggies reeled in seven of the top 34 players in the country.
“You read about it, you know who they are. We were second in recruiting last year. A&M was first. A&M bought every player on their team. Made a deal for name, image and likeness. We didn’t buy one player. But I don’t know if we’re going to be able to sustain that in the future, because more and more people are doing it. It’s tough.” said Saban.
Per Colin Cowherd, the 70-year-old Saban is fearful that he is losing his grip on the college football landscape in the wake of the NIL (name, image, and likeness) bylaws that were put in place by the NCAA last year, allowing players to financially benefit in a variety of ways from autographs to endorsement deals.
“When people lash out there's three reasons psychologically why anybody lashes out: jealousy, envy, and fear. Now I don't think Saban is jealous or envious of other coaches, but there's some fear here.” Cowherd said. “What he doesn't like is losing dominance.”
The oil and energy market money in Texas is the lead reason for Colin Cowherd's remarks, which he claims can almost directly be correlated to the leaps some Texas-based universities are seeing in terms of recruiting. He believes that Saban feels with NIL in place Alabama could be in jeopardy of losing its stranglehold on college football?.
