Atlanta Falcons Head Coach Arthur Smith joined Andy Bunker on Friday and talked about how Matt Ryan's departure from Atlanta impacts play calling moving forward.

“You had a comment about (referencing the in studio interview with Dukes & Bell earlier this month) whether its Mariota (Marcus Mariota) or Desmond (Desmond Ridder) as the starting quarterback when the season starts, whichever guy it is, the offense is just going to look different. What do you mean by different?” Bunker asked.

“When you’re working with a veteran quarterback that has had a ton of success, there’s things, we put in a lot of new schemes and plays. We also wanted to make, you got to make the quarterback comfortable as well. There is certain things that Matt (Matt Ryan) could do really well that we may not ask Marcus or Desmond to do and vice versa,” Coach Smith replied.

“There’s things Marcus and Desmond can do that can help you in the run game that Matt couldn’t do. That’s not a shot you know it’s just the facts. So I think you will see us move the quarterback a little bit more. Your certainly going to need to account for the quarterbacks in the run game, so hopefully that gives us an edge,” Coach Smith continued.

Coach Smith went on to talk about how the offensive line could benefit from the quarterbacks in the audio clip above.
