Iowa native Shawn Johnson connects families needing baby formula
West Des Moines native and Olympic Gymnast Gold Medalist Shawn Johnson is trying to help new mothers find and share baby formula.
Johnson knows all too well about the baby formula shortage. She has a 10-month-old named Jett.
Johnson shared a new social media video from her Nashville home, showing her son along with her husband, Andrew East.
Together they have created a baby formula exchange website.
It's pretty simple.
Those who have formula and want to share it can offer it on the new site. And those who need formula can ask for it there. It's a way to bring both sides together.
Johnson said she knows it's a real problem.
"So last week I was trying to refill Jett's formula and I wasn't able to find it anywhere," Johnson said. "A friend of a friend actually connected me to her friend in Pittsburgh and she was able to find and ship it to me."
