FRIDAY UPDATES: Boone County reports four new COVID-related deaths, 52 new cases

The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services is reporting four new coronavirus-related deaths. That makes 247 COVID deaths since March 2020.

The county is reporting that the first individual was in the 40-44 age group and died on Jan. 7, 2022. The second individual was in the 35-39 age group and died on April 8, 2022. The third individual was in the 80+ age group and died on April 22, 2022. The fourth individual was in the 60-64 age group and died on May 7, 2022.

The county is reporting that 52 new coronavirus cases were added to the information hub on Friday.

Of those 52 new cases, 32 cases were reported for Wednesday. The rest of the cases were reported throughout the month of May. The county delays reporting cases by two days.

The dashboard is showing nine COVID-19 patients in Boone County hospitals. There are two patients in the ICU and two patients are on ventilators.

Additionally, 45,334 previous COVID-19 cases were recorded previously.

Boone County is reported to have a low COVID-19 community level, according to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS).

The Columbia Public Schools reports active coronavirus and quarantine cases to their website daily.

The district reported a 34.3 14-day rate for last Wednesday.
CPS reports that 19 district facilities (eight elementary schools, four middle schools, three high schools and four other district-wide facilities) currently have staff out because of COVID-19.

The district is reporting 22 coronavirus cases in staff across the district. The breakdown in staff shows nine staff members at an elementary school, six staff members at middle schools, four staff members at the high school level and three staff members at district-wide facilities who have tested positive for COVID-19. Three staff members at elementary schools have to quarantine due to being in close contact.

The district reported 11 district facilities that have reported coronavirus cases in students. In the district, there are eight out of 21 elementary schools, one out of seven middle schools and two out of four high schools have reported coronavirus cases in students.

There are 16 active coronavirus cases in the district. There are eight cases in elementary schools, one case at the middle school and seven cases at the high school level. There is one case currently being quarantined due to COVID. The district is reporting one case at the elementary school level is currently in quarantine.

Cole County reports five new COVID cases

The Cole County Health Department reported five new coronavirus cases on Friday. The county added one new case for Wednesday and four new cases on Thursday.

According to the dashboard update, there are 17,509 total cases in the county since March 2020.

The Missouri coronavirus vaccine dashboard reports Cole County as having a low COVID-19 community level.

The Jefferson City School District reported no new coronavirus case in a student or staff members on Thursday.

The district is reporting three active cases in students and no active case in a staff member.
