No. 15 Mizzou softball downs Missouri State in NCAA Regional opener

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou softball team put up another lights out pitching and defensive performance in a 3-1 win over Missouri State on Friday.

Sophomore Laurin Krings had a shutout going until the 6th inning when Missouri State sent one in on a shot to center field. She tossed for a complete game with 12 strikeouts and one run allowed.

The Tigers first got on the board in the third inning thanks to some small ball. Kendyll Bailey sent Brooke Wilmes home on a sacrifice grounder. Just a few minutes later, Rock Bridge alum Maddie Snider came in off of a Bears fielding error to make it 2-0.

Up next - Mizzou will play the winner of the match up between Illinois and Arizona.
