Winner man identified as fatality in Tuesday morning crash

WINNER, S.D. –  A 20-year-old Winner, S.D., man has been identified as the person who died early Tuesday morning in a one-vehicle crash northwest of Winner.

Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2004 Ford F-150 pickup was northbound on 314th Avenue when the driver lost control near the intersection of 275th Street and 314th Avenue. The pickup rolled.

Fredrick Whiting, Jr., the driver, was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.

The Highway Patrol is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
