Professional boxing is returning to Washington D.C.
On Saturday, May 28, the Entertainment & Sports Arena will be hosting Beltway Battles: Round Two.
D.C.'s super lightweight Anthony Peterson (38-1-1. 24 KOs) will face Saul Corral (30-18, 13 KOs) in the eight-round Co-Main Event.
7News Sports Anchor Scott Abraham caught up with Peterson at his training camp at Old School Boxing gym at Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, Maryland.
"I got a big show coming up, everybody is going to be entertained," a smiling Peterson told Abraham. "I've been working on a lot of things. My reflexes, my quickness. I've been eating right, sleeping right."
The event is part of a series of pro boxing shows being held in D.C.
Peterson, who attended Cardoza High School, is trained by his brother Lamont Peterson, a retired former two-time world champion boxer.
"It's working perfectly, he's been my coach since the day I was born," Peterson said. "Thirteen months apart. We've been through the same situations together, we have never done anything apart."
This will be Peterson's first fight in D.C. since 2016. He can't wait to perform in front of the hometown crowd.
"This is very special. A lot of my loved ones will be coming to the event," Peterson said. "I don't have to stay in any hotels, worry about catching COVID. I'm home, I know everything."
Doors will open at 5 p.m. with the first fight at 6 p.m. Tickets start at $51 (plus fees) and can be purchased at all Ticketmaster locations including Ticketmaster.com and at the Entertainment & Sports Arena Box Office.
