Geauga Park District will reopen its “ropes & boats” recreational offerings for the season on May 28.
New this year, Claridon Woodlands’ ropes course is now offering less-rushed adventures with slightly larger groups and more time on the course, featuring platforms 32 feet off the ground, linked by eight 23-to-32-foot-long challenge elements, and a 100-foot-long zipline exit, according to a news release.
This season, high ropes will be open for hour-and-a-half-long sessions Saturdays and Sundays at 10:30 a.m., noon, 2:30 and 4 p.m.; and Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays at 12:30, 2, 4:30, and 6 p.m. Access is free to all Geauga County residents with an ID and $20 for out-of-county residents (credit card only, paid onsite).
To make a reservation, which is highly recommended, check availability, learn age requirements and weight restrictions, and more, read the information posted on the park district’s website ahead of time.
Those who don’t want such a grand or scheduled adventure can try Claridon Woodlands’ 12-foot-high, 900-square-foot freeform boulder wall, complete with new routes and special new rock holds, the release stated.
Claridon Woodlands is located at 11383 Claridon Troy Road in Chardon.
Those craving a warm-weather adventure on the water can head to Headwaters Park’s boathouse for kayak and canoe borrowing on a first-come, first-served basis, the release stated. New this year, two paddleboats seating up to four people, are also available to borrow for one hour at a time.
This season, the park’s limited number of kayaks, canoes and paddleboats will be available to borrow Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with last boats out at 4 p.m.; and Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from noon to 7 p.m., with last boats out at 6 p.m.
Geauga County residents can borrow boats for free with an ID; out-of-county residents must pay $5 per hour for adults, $3 per hour for kids 12 and under, $8 for tandem, and $16 for paddleboats (credit card only, paid onsite). Provided life vests must be worn at all times.
To learn more, read the information posted on the park district’s website ahead of time. Headwaters Park is located at 13365 Old State Road in Huntsburg Township.
