VCSC high schools try to beat a Guinness World Record

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Students from all three VCSC high schools came together Friday morning to try and break a Guinness World Record.

The goal was to have the largest game of Duck, Duck, Goose.

Over 2,000 students came to Terre Haute South in high spirts of winning to play the game. The game had to go on for over 16 minutes in order to break the record.

One student was chose ahead of time from each high school to be “it”, and the normal rules of Duck, Duck, Goose followed.

Superintendent of VCSC Dr. Rob Haworth said this was one of the events to celebrate the students and their thousands of hours in community service.

“We’re here today recognizing service to our community. Our students completed 50 thousand hours of community service,” Haworth said.

Haworth said that although beating a world record would be great, the real accomplishment is how incredible the students in the community are.

“This is some of the best of the best here in Vigo County with us here today. This group here behind me, they represent what is great and what is good,” Dr. Haworth said.

Haworth said they should know in about a week if they definitely beat the Guinness World Record, but he said he is pretty certain that they did.
