The Baltimore County Police Department is honoring one of their own in a special way.
The County officers will be wearing a memorial ribbon bar on their uniform or a mourning band on their badge tomorrow in memory of 29-year-old, Amy Sorrells Caprio.
On May 21, 2018, Officer Caprio responded to a call for a suspicious vehicle with multiple suspicious subjects walking around homes on Linwen Way in Parkville.
When she arrived and located the vehicle, she proceeded to get out of her vehicle, then ordered the driver to exit the vehicle. The suspect instead accelerated their vehicle, fatally striking the officer.
Officer Caprio was nearly a four-year veteran of the department. Officer Amy Caprio’s name, along with the names of other fallen heroes, is inscribed on a monument at Patriot Plaza in Towson.
