We’ve got questions, and you’ve (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, we’re lobbing queries left and right about lotsa shows including The Rookie, Riverdale, The Good Doctor and Who Killed Sara?
1 | After seeing these incredible moves from Riverdale‘s Archie, are you kinda wishing he would dance more in the musical episodes?
2 | Why would Family Guy‘s Brian tell Stewie that a baby can’t get pregnant when he knows darn well that Stewie already gave birth to no less than seven human-puppy hybrids back in 2015?
3 | Did you think you had missed an NCIS: Los Angeles episode when Katya began rambling about how she and Anna had been lovers, and that was the root of her deep-fake vendetta with Callen??
4 | Regarding The Equalizer‘s Season 2 finale, do you wish shows would stop using T-bone car crashes (aka Michael Vaughnings) to create drama for cliffhangers?
5 | Could The Rookie have chosen a more convoluted way to have “Chenford” kiss than to establish that a drug dealer, and later his girlfriend, happened to be exact lookalikes — we repeat, exact lookalikes — for Tim and Lucy, who then had to “rehearse” for going undercover?
6 | Does NBC realize that Young Rock will now be up against the WWE’s SmackDown on Fridays…?
7 | Wrestling fans, what do you make of Sasha Banks and Naomi walking out on WWE Raw? Do you see them heading over to AEW?
8 | Has there ever been product placement as clunky and overt as All American: Homecoming‘s shoutout to Spotify Blend playlists? Also, how many of you caught that nod to Drumline from President Allen (played by Leonard Roberts, who co-starred in the 2002 film)?
9 | Where do NCIS: Hawai’i‘s Jane and Joe now rank among TV’s Current Sexiest Couples? And how refreshing was it that the secret he kept didn’t lead to some soapy breakup?
10 | Did The Good Doctor‘s stabby-stabby cliffhanger trigger anyone else’s ER PTSD?
11 | Did you think that Better Call Saul‘s Rhea Seehorn was playing Kim’s mom in this week’s opening flashback, because the resemblance was so uncanny? (It was actually Beth Hoyt, who also played Kim’s mom in a Season 5 flashback.)
12 | Given all that happened this week on This Is Us, do you think the actual finale — beyond the expected funeral — will be a series of Dan Fogelman rug pulls, or simply flash forwards to what happened to everyone? Of all the Easter eggs in the penultimate hour, was Adult Randall doing pushups with Young Randall on his back the sweetest of all? And did we blink and miss her, or was Teenage Kate the only one of the Big 3’s younger counterparts not aboard the train?
13 | Is this really the best Chicago Med could do on this photoshop job of Ethan’s dad?
14 | If the title and conceit of the show is Who Killed Sara?, shouldn’t the title character be dead?
15 | Would The Flash have us believe that Barry did not realize that his wife had not come home/had not been in bed all night long?
16 | Would you say The Goldbergs’ CGI has gotten better or worse since Erica’s wedding?
17 | Is this the first time, in over 300 episodes between Roseanne and The Conners, that we’ve seen the fourth wall? And did the Powers That Be not think we’d notice that Ben’s mom Barb (played in Season 3 by Candice Bergen) wasn’t in attendance for his wedding?
18 | Now that Survivor‘s Maryanne can take credit for knocking out one of the season’s biggest threats, does she have a convincing enough argument to win the game? And were you surprised that zero immunity idols were played at the Final 6 Tribal?
19 | Is Evil doing Biscuits with the Boss?
20 | Did Station 19 pass up a chance for a lot of conflict by having Travis break up with Emmett before deciding to run for mayor against his father?
21 | Grey’s Anatomy fans, knowing that Grey Sloan is full of capable surgeons, would Meredith really turn around on her way out the door to miss her dinner party by treating a patient being wheeled into the ER? Did she feel like all the hotshots were already at her house, or what?

I wasn’t crazy on the season finale of the rookie. I felt like they didn’t really finish the whole Tim Lucy undercover look alike a thing. Nolan’s whole thing was fine but a little unbelievable. Overall it was okay but one of the weaker episodes of the season. I find it interesting how little they have been showing the new guy that replaced Jackson. I like him I just wasn’t crazy on the reality show episode.
5). That Chenford plot is among some of the dumbest storylines I’ve ever seen on tv. And probably done on purpose because Alexi Hawley has said repeatedly he didn’t particularly want them together. If he did, it’d certainly have been presented in a believable way.
12). You didn’t miss her! She wasn’t there, but I assumed that was just because Kate wasn’t present for most of Rebecca’s journey and it wouldn’t have made sense to put her in.
To me, that double doppelganger storyline on The Rookie was THE most unbelievable one I’ve ever witnessed. One double? Possible but a lazy excuse in plotting. TWO doubles? That’s beyond belief to infinity! It’s even worse then all of those “It was all a dream” excuses we’ve seen on some series (although the one on “Newhart” was cute).
Newhart is the only show that could ever really get away with the ‘it was all a dream’ ending.
I also wondered about the Aaron Thorson character. I realize his partner is not able to be on patrol due to her pregnancy, but the dude just disappeared. I really like his character, better than Jackson, TBH. Overall, the episode was pretty cheesy. Not anywhere near their normal standards.
And she’s not going back to training when she’s back from maternity leave, she’s going to be Lopez’s partner as a detective. I guess this leaves the door open for Nolan to become his TO?
But Nolan couldn’t take the TO exam and the next one isn’t for two years.
Dude just took down an entire international gang, I feel like he’s gonna be able to leverage that and take the TO exam.
The exam was taking place while he was away in that town. Only thing I can think of is if they use that entire entanglement as “evidence” to prove that he would be a good TO and put him in the program. Which is a load of bull, but that’s TV for ya.
Wasn’t Thorson helping with the undercover case by trailing the first briefcase from a civilian car?
.
I do agree with you, though, he’s not around as much as you’d think he’d be. Hopefully the actor is bumped up to regular next season. He’s an interesting character.

I thought the exact same thing… took me right back to the Dr. Carter / Lucy stabby, stabby moment
I’m so glad I wasn’t the only one who saw this connection! As soon as the finale ended, the ER Carter/Lucy connection was the first thing out of my mouth. I’m just glad that ER did there’s during the season and not as a finale, it’s going to be a long summer waiting to find out the ramifications for this!
Yup, afterwards I went to tunefind to see what the name of the song was that was playing when Lucy & Carter were stabbed (“Battleflag” by Lo Fidelity All Stars) and it brought me RIGHT back, goosebumps. 😜
Yes! ER had a party going on and Resident had the wedding as a distraction. It took me right back to ER with Lucy/Carter and the shock of Carter and Lucy facing each other, unable to move or be heard.
5) It was so convoluted it felt like a scenario out of a porno, but I guess if it gets them there. Certainly trying to move their “will they won’t they” along without actually moving it along requires some pretzel logic. I kind of just had to laugh it off as the glaringly overt bit of plot mechanics that it was. The only way it could get weirder is if next season they have to “have sex” to save the mission. (Though that would definitely be cheesy in the most delightful way.)
#3- Yes! So glad I’m not the only one thinking I missed something
#12 – nothing can be better than the penultimate episode but the creators all seem happy with the finale and they’ve earned my trust that I’ll be happy with it too
#18 – I’ve been saying for weeks she’s getting a winner’s edit and after seeing the faces on the jury when she succeeded in her blindside, I think they now see her as the winner as well.
#21 – I keep wondering why no one wants to be in a scene with Ellen Pompeo
#12 – I agree the ladyfantasyfan. Everyone involved in This Is Us has earned my respect and trust over the past 6 years, especially Dan Fogelman so I’m sure I’ll be happy as well. I’ll also be sad to see it end.
This is Us is the only show where I have no anxiety about being disappointed in the finale. How I Met Your Mother and Dexter caused me a lot of distrust when my favorite shows wrap up but I have 100% confidence in the This is Us writers. Next week’s episode is going to be spectacular.
#12 TIU they’ve learned I trust. The problem is a complete you are coming to the story and the Beautiful ending. I’m going to enjoy the ride.
#21 Ellen was not Meryl Streep to start with. At this point it feels like she’s phoning in a lot of her lines. This whole episode feel stiff and forced by her. That party with some of the best Grey’s Anatomy in a while. It was fun it moved the story of little bit. It was not strained. The the surgery with Nico and the others was a great scene. I understand Ellen giving the patient the message of support from the family was important but Ellen kind of made the scene awkward.
#13 – The picture of Chen’s father didn’t even look Photoshopped. It seemed like old school cut-the-head-out-of-one-picture-and-paste-it-over-another. Not that I would know anything about such things.
#18 – Rooting hard for Maryanne to win, but I fear if Lindsay is sitting next to her, she won’t win. I just hope if she’s makes final 3, she gets some votes.
#9 Yes, I really love Jane and Joe on NCIS Hawaii hopefully he will be rewritten back into the show next season any chance of that happening??
The doppelgänger storyline on The Rookie was terrible. It seems heavily impossible that lookalikes of two cops that just so happen to have feelings for each other are in the same city, and committing crimes. It’s like Castle all over again: two people working in close proximity to one another realize they have feelings for each other, always one gets the feeling while the other appears to be happy in another relationship, but then isn’t, and then they end up together; which will then ruin the dynamic of the show.
8. Hawaii Five-O had the worst product placement with Subway.
No, that would be Chuck.
Subway definitely sponsored Chuck, but Hawaii Five-O practically read a 5 star yelp review on air.
5. Look, I’m all about the Chenford, but yeah, that was beyond stupid. Like, wincing and muttering “yikes” in my living room levels of bad. I had to go watch the far more entertaining shipper pandering of NCIS: LA’s “Neighborhood Watch” to metaphorically Michael Vaughn that episode from my mind.
10. The PTSD with that “ER” episode is real. When I was diagnosed with simultaneous quad PEs about four years after that aired, all I kept envisioning in the actual ER was poor Lucy Knight.
12. As long as we don’t have to get introduced to a new family that has next to NO relation to the Pearson. Sad they wasted so much time on a family we don’t know in the 2nd last episode.
But I did enjoy the walk through the train cars.
22. Young Ian did a great job impersonating George Mary MeeMaw and Georgie. I guess no need to do Missy as she is not a grown up in his mind which is what the fear is.
Jane and Joe….yes yes yes….the chemistry is chefs kiss!!!!
12 Kate wasn’t there yet. That is why the younger Kate wasn’t on the train. That is who Rebecca was talking about when she kept telling William she was waiting on someone.
5 The lookalike plot on the Rookie was just stupid.
Young Kate was in the caboose. She was holding a jar of fireflies.
I feel the intention of the Rookie doppelganger take is because the Chenford characters would neeevvvveeerr get together, but some fans wanted to see it so the writers considered it a compromise, maybe hoping the audience would realize and stop pushing for it.
#5 -The Rookie
I am not against Chenford because the actors definitely have chemistry, but I’m against whatever it is that Alexi Hawley is doing to these characters. In fact, everyone on this show deserves better. It’s unrecognizable from the fantastic first season.
Not only was Ben’s mom not at his and Darlene’s wedding, nobody mentioned it to David or Ed Jr.
@ Steven: producers were supposed to originally introduce Dan’s half sister, who is/was a teenager at the time, but that’s been forgotten.
Also Crystal has been on the show since it was changed to The Conners.
Just another Grey’s episode where Meredith barely interacts with any of the other actors. So obvious she doesn’t want to be there. Does she even like anyone on the show anymore other than Scott Speedman? Just don’t like her character anymore.
Agree, Her staying in the hospital was not that dynamic. If she is tired of being in show or dislikes working with all the others, then let her leave. The show will do great without her, just make adjustments.
They could easily have her be in some accident, where she needs plastic surgery to change her face and bring in another actress for that part. That way they don’t lose the “Grey’s” part of title.
There’s no way Tim & Lucy should get together, but OMG, Dim & Juicy? I loved the Dim reveal, he was so good & funny in the role, but Juicy was a little too much.
5 >> I don’t mind a little lightheartedness in a drama, but I think The Rookie may be getting a little too goofy
The Rookie finale felt like a really stupid filler episode that brought 0 story lines to any sort of conclusion. Then I realized it was the season finale and was doubly disappointed.
5) I’m all for chenford but that was stupid and lazy and i feel cheated if this ends up being how they officially got things going.
Don’t even get me started on Nolan and Bailey’s stupid plot too. We need to see much much less of bailey and Nolan and more of the rest of the other characters.
They should have given faux Tim face tattoos! I loved it. I thought it was hilarious. Sure, it felt forced but damn that was fun.
8. The product placements for Subaru on NCIS: Hawai’i might be a close second. CLUNKY.
13. That was some seriously bad photoshopping.
