RODMAN UPDATE – Starting Monday, the Broadway Street entrance to Rodman Public Library will be closed for three days while the floor is being refinished. Starting May 26, the parking lot entrance doors will be closed for three days for floor refinishing and other maintenance projects.

EXTENSION COURSES – The local OSU Extension agencies are offering certification classes for farmers. Columbiana and Mahoning County OSU Extension plans a Beef Quality Certification event at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Columbiana County Extension Office, 7989 Dickey Drive, Suite 5, in Lisbon. Haley Shoemaker, BQA instructor, will be teaching. BQA covers a multitude of topics, including carcass quality, injection protocol, and animal handling, and will ultimately impact your success at marketing. Those who attend can gain a BQA certification or recertify their existing one. Cost for the program is $10. Columbiana, Mahoning and Wayne County OSU Extension agencies are offering a free webinar called Poultry Biosecurity: From the Backyard to the 4-H Project at 6:30 p.m. May 31, featuring speaker Tim McDermott, DVM, Franklin County Extension. He will discuss biosecurity measures for backyard flocks and 4-H poultry, as well as how to identify and apply biosecurity to eight of the top 10 poultry diseases. PURSE EVENT – Women’s Division of Alliance Area Chamber of Commerce plans its Purses with a Purpose at 6 p.m. June 1 at Robertsons Kitchen and Bath Gallery Showroom. The Women’s Division raises funds to put back into the community to groups or organizations who deal with services for women and children in the Alliance area. CARNATION CITY PLAYERS – Carnation City Players plans its annual meeting at 7 p.m. June 20 at Firehouse Theatre. Current adult members are invited to attend and vote on the 2022-23 board of trustees and three-year trustees. Executive officer nominees on ballot – Kim Lewis, president; Don McCallister, vice president; Tyler Kinser, treasurer and immediate past president; Phyllis Kibler, assistant treasurer; and Cheryl Foutz, secretary. 3-year trustees on ballot – Jessie Canavan, EJ McKenna and Deana Wilt.
