CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Kent Griffy has announced he is seeking the Republican nomination for Tennessee House District 75.

“I decided to run for this position because I am concerned for those who believe they no longer have a voice in government. I will be that voice for them,” Griffy said.

“When the redistricting lines were published, I knew I needed to run for this position. Anyone who knows me knows my dedication to the Clarksville community. It’s as if they drew the lines around the areas I know best.”

Griffy is a graduate of Northwest High School and attended Austin Peay State University while operating his family farm in Woodlawn.

He later began a sales career and rose to management positions. He opened his own business on Fort Campbell Boulevard in 1998. Griffy worked with Maj. Gen. Richard Cody to develop the Business Code of Ethics to help Fort Campbell soldiers. In 2018, Griffy returned to full-time farming.

In 1998, Griffy was elected to the Clarksville-Montgomery County School Board and served three terms, four years as chairman. He chaired the Building and the Strategic Planning committees, which oversaw the installation and expansion of several schools. The school system experienced a shift to policy governance during those 12 years and an increase in the graduation rate, despite several years of funding shortfalls. He was re-elected to the position in 2022 with the endorsement of the CMCEA.

He was appointed to the Woodlawn Utility District in 2009 and continues to serve. As president, he has directed and overseen the development of a water treatment plant to help match the demand created by growth in the area.

Griffy has four children and six grandchildren. He is an active member of the Dotsonville Church of Christ. He and his wife of 30 years, Linda, live in his family home on York Road in Woodlawn.

The new Tennessee House District 75 covers northwest Clarksville and most of western Montgomery County and Fort Campbell.
