Celebrated composer of soundtracks including Chariots of Fire and Blade Runner. Sad news indeed.

Also did some great work with Jon Anderson, was only listening to 'The friends of Mr. Cairo' last night. 'I'll find my way home' & 'I hear you now' are my favourite Jon & Vangelis songs. RIP

I first came across his music through Blade Runner and bought many of his albums following that, including the collaborations with Jon Anderson. His music was always very distinctive and original, sad to hear he's passed away. I think this is fitting.

His music for 1492 Conquest of Paradise was phenomenal.

And Heaven & Hell - incredible.

Heaven & Hell literally scared the life out of me when my Dad played it to me as a nipper!!

'Break' from 1972 should have been a massive hit.
As he says 'Bye bye my friend, Goodbye'

    R.I.P.

Chariots of Fire one of the greatest musical sequences in film history, made number one in the US where the film was very popular. Strangely issued there as "Titles"iirc. Instantly recognisable to this day.
I do remember watching Cosmos-the lavishly created series with the late Carl Sagan. That featured Heaven and Hell and the metronomic and curiously addictive Alpha-which I still think should have ended up in the score of a space/space horror film.
Otherwise Il Find my Way Home and I Hear You Now with Jon Anderson-the latter seeming so out of place in the 1980 charts. The extraordinary video and gloriously melodic and dreamy construction made it a hit though. One for the imagination.
    Much much more.
    RIP Vangelis-absolute legend.

Listened to a Spotify "Best Of" playlist on Friday when the news of his death was announced. Curiously, included a version of Jerusalem which sounded not really any different to any other version and did not seem to have been Vangelised. :/
