Nelly Korda’s season appears to be getting back on track. On Thursday, for the first time in 10 weeks, the 23 year old former World No. 1 posted a swing video on Instagram.
The video’s significance comes from the fact that it’s her first public swings since her season was derailed in March, when she was diagnosed with a blood clot. The next update came in April, when she announced she’d had surgery to have the blood clot removed.
The diagnosis and surgery have kept Korda sidelined, her last LPGA start coming at the LPGA Drive On Championship in early February. In the process she missed the year’s first major championship, the Chevron Challenge.
The update video post doesn’t include an indication of when she’ll return to competition. The next tour event is the Bank of Hope LPGA Match-Play in Las Vegas starting on May 25. A week later is the season’s second major, the U.S Women’s Open at Pine Needles, which will begin June 2.
Korda has won one major, the 2021 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, but said in an interview with Golf Digest that she has her eyes on the U.S. Women’s Open.
“Any major is a major, but the one that holds a significant meaning to me is the U.S. Open,” Korda said in the interview.
