The LA Set Will Be All Over Dior’s Resort 2023 Collection, Co-Designed With ERL

Kim Jones, artistic director of Dior Menswear, tapped LVMH Prize Finalist Eli Russell Linnetz – founder of ERL – to help design the resort 2023 collection, unveiled last night at a star-studded showcase in LA. Linnetz’s take was predictably bright: The colour-soaked capsule delivered playful pieces that riffed on “Californian Couture”, loosely inspired by Christian Dior’s own visits to the City of Angels.

Jones granted Linnetz exclusive access to the Dior archive, and the designer chose to focus on the 1990s – the decade he was born in – when Gianfranco Ferré was at the helm of the maison. There were obvious nods to Linnetz’s ERL signatures, arriving as pastel puffers embossed with the brand’s instantly-recognisable swirls, and oversized silhouettes that nodded to Venice Beach skater culture. Jones’s own touch was visible, too, in the louche tailoring scattered throughout the collection.

Expect the A-list to buy in to this particular creative union: From A$AP Rocky – for whom Linnetz created a custom quilted look for last year’s Met Gala – to Kid Cudi and Dua Lipa, ERL’s fanbase is exploding. Scroll on for the standout looks.
