MN man sentenced for drug sale

A 53-year-old Red Lake man has been sentenced to five years in prison for fentanyl trafficking.
According to the U.S Attorney’s office Leroy Varney is accused of selling the drugs to those living on the Red Lake Indian Reservation. Law enforcement observed Varney travel from Bemidji to Pequot Lakes for a drug pickup. Authorities conducted a traffic stop of Varney’s vehicle and confiscated 100 grams of a white powdery substance later determined to be fentanyl.
Varney was sentenced after pleading guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl.
