A boil water advisory was issued for the City of Bangor's water customers was lifted on Saturday, according to a Bangor city official.
The advisory was issued because there was a drop in pressure in the city's water supply due to a leak and water valve and main shut offs, according to city officials.
This means bacterial contamination may have occurred in the water system.
Residents were told to bring all water to a boil and then boil for one minute before consuming.
Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and preparing food, according to city officials.
The advisory was precautionary until city officials could confirm if there was dangerous bacteria in the water.
Flushing and collecting bacteriological samples were expected to be done.
Samples were expected to be collected to make sure the water quality meets state drinking water standards, according to city officials.
