After more than a decade of conflict, it appears that Dream Theater singer James LaBrie and former drummer Mike Portnoy are ready to bury the hatchet; does this mean a collaboration is about to happen between the two musicians soon?

According to Loudwire, Portnoy left the band in 2010, leading Mike Mangini to take over the drumkit. Although the musician joined multiple groups over the past years, his issue with his ex-bandmates appeared to have been resolved as he teamed up with guitarist John Petrucci and keyboardist Jordan Rudess.

The reason why Portnoy departed in 2010 is that he didn't want to end his career as just "the drummer in one band."

Despite having a close connection to some of his old pals, there was one member whom he reportedly had a problem with: James LaBrie.

Earlier this year, the two stars reunited at a Dream Theater show and, it seems like they're ready to leave their beef behind.

In an interview with Sonic Perspectives last month, the singer said he got tired of the negativity around the issue and decided to talk to his old friend.

"We're talking to one another, we're chatting and all that stuff. And that's the kind of world that I wanna live in as opposed to negativity, hate and frickin'... It's just not worth it. It's not worth it," the musician said.

More recently, the singer appeared on "The Loaded Radio Podcast," where he revealed his possible future with Portnoy when asked if they would collaborate in the future soon.

LaBrie did not hesitate and said, "anything is possible," before revealing that both of them are "in a great place."

"We've been texting back and forth from time to time. I wished him a happy birthday; he wished me a happy birthday. So we're staying in touch," he added. (via Blabbermouth)

The singer then admired his pal, saying Portnoy is a great musician and he still doesn't know what the future holds for them, but he's open to any collaboration that might come from him or the drummer.

Regarding their reconciliation, the musician said they should've made amends a long time ago, but their pride got the best of them.

Even though LaBrie is busy with Dream Theater, he still finds time to promote his latest solo album "Beautiful Shade of Grey."
