ArnoldyWendyPIC 002

Wendy Smith-Arnoldy, age 53 of Soperton passed away on Wednesday afternoon, May 18, 2022 at her home.

Born in San Antonio, Texas she was the daughter of the late Robert C. Smith and Irene Lumley Smith. With her father and mother's military careers the family relocated frequently before they ended up in Tatnall County where Wendy graduated from Reidsville High School in 1986. As a young adult, Wendy worked for Petsmart and rapidly advanced in the company to the position of Coordinator of New Store Openings throughout the United States, before starting with Orkin Pest Control in Augusta, GA.  In the early 2000s, Wendy moved with her daughter to Vidalia and continued to work with Orkin, where she advanced to the position of General Manager for the State of Georgia before retiring after 12 years with the company. After retiring she attended Ashford University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Behavioral Science in 2014.

Wendy enjoyed watching movies, playing board games, family vacations, and spending time with her dog Patches and grand-dog Lincoln. Her priority in life was her family, of which she had traced a great deal of it's genealogical lineage. Her time with her daughter, Katie-Anne was priceless. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with Katie-Anne, whom she proudly called her best friend.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a dear friend, Mr. Gene Stewart.

Wendy leaves behind; her beloved daughter, Katie-Anne Arnoldy and grand-dog Lincoln, Statesboro, GA; siblings, Nathan Smith, Spokane, WA, Darlene Byce, North Augusta, SC, Bobby Smith, Thomson, GA, Ray Byce, Augusta, GA; nieces and nephews, Tirana Radogoshi, Savannah Bass, Jessica Smith, Matthew Smith, Micah Smith, Adam Shipley, Gabby Shipley, Noah Sheridan, Ally Simm, Ella Simm, Maddie Smith, and a great niece and nephew, Billy Wiggins Jr, and Evelyn Wiggins; as well as a close family friend, Mr. Ernest Carter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 pm on Saturday, May 21, 2022 in the Williams Chapel of
Sammons Funeral Home with Pastor M. L. Barber officiating.  Wendy will be laid to rest beside her mom-a-dear in the Zaidee Advent Christian Church Cemetery.  Her family will receive friends on Saturday, at the funeral home, from 3:00 pm until the hour of service.
