Absentee ballots are now accepted in Guthrie County for the June 7th primary and there are some things to be aware of.

With the new redistricting map, all registered voters will get a postcard in the mail alerting them about their new polling location. Under Iowa law, voters must be notified between 20 and seven days prior to the primary and general elections. According to the Secretary of State’s office, those mailings are now out.

Absentee ballots may now be cast in-person at the Guthrie County Auditor’s Office at the Guthrie County Courthouse during regular office hours Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. until June 6th.

Absentee ballots to be mailed must be requested in writing and all requests must be received by the auditor’s office by 5 p.m. May 23rd. In order for your ballot to count it must be returned by the close of polls on the primary election day.
