Women Can/Women Do to hold benefit for Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan
CHARLEVOIX — Planning is underway for the Women Can/Women Do-Charlevoix County fundraising luncheon to be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15 at the Castle Farms.
Since 2007, the event has signaled the start of the summer season and has been instrumental in raising vital dollars for Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan programs and services relied on by area women, children and families.
“We look forward to gathering once again at Castle Farms to visit with friends and make new acquaintances at this well-attended event,” said resource center executive director Gail Kloss.
The event was paused in 2019 due to the pandemic and modified to a ‘Gourmet to Go’ style event last year.
“Women Can/Women Do luncheons provide a significant source of funding that helps ensure the continuation of support services for adult and child survivors of abuse and assault,” said Kloss.
The center's survivor services include advocacy, counseling, the Safe Home, 24-hour help line, Children’s Advocacy Center and Educational and Employment Services.
Volunteers play a key role in the success of the fundraiser. Committee members help with planning and the silent auction, table designers create table decorations and table captains reach out to friends, family and business associates to fill seats at their table.
Dozens of designers will transform Castle Farms’ east garden room into an array of flowers and unique displays complete with table favors for guests. This year’s table designers include: Boyne Valley Vineyards, Castle Farms, Chef Jessie's Yum and Yummer, Cherry Republic, Christ Episcopal Church, Elements Gallery, Elsilu Event Planning, Flea Boutique, Gold Mine Resale Shops, Graze Catering, Harwood Gold Café, Lauren Elaine Designs, L. Burnham and Associates, Lake Charlevoix Coffee Company, Market Technologies, Inc., Monarch Garden and Floral Design, Northern Community Mediation, Petals of Charlevoix, Rafina Grove, Round Lake Books, Straddle Books, The Argonne House, The Landing Restaurant, The Rainbow Shoppe, The Tailored Tabletop, Upsy-Daisy Floral and Vue Wine Bar.
Grey Gables will cater the lunch and Diane McMahon will provide dessert.
Volunteer table captains are responsible for filling seats at a table, while some seats are available on a first-come/first serve basis. To reserve a seat or volunteer as a designer or table captain, call WRCNM’s main office at (231) 347-0067 or email kvandenbrink@wrcnm.org.
