Azealia Banks Defends Cara Delevingne Amid Megan Thee Stallion Controversy

Azealia Banks has defended Cara Delevingne after video footage recently resurfaced of the model pretending to lick her leg as she performed onstage—as well as clips of her crashing Megan Thee Stallion's red carpet moment.

In one video, Banks, 30, was seen performing her hit track "212" at The Real Housewives of New York City star Leah McSweeney's Halloween party last year as Delevingne, 29, acted as though she was licking the entire length of the rapper's body.

As Banks delivered the closing lines of her song at New York City hotspot The Box, Delevingne was seen on her knees with her tongue out, playfully working her way up until she was standing alongside the musician.

Banks hugged Delevingne at the end of her performance, according to Page Six.

The clip appeared to have been shared in reaction to footage from Sunday's Billboard Music Awards, where Delevingne was caught on camera crashing Megan's big arrival at the star-studded event as she posed for photographers.

In clips shared on TikTok and Instagram, Delevingne joined Megan, full name Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, on the carpet where she threw the train of the rapper's skirt into the air in an apparent attempt to give her photos a dramatic flair.

Megan was seen laughing as Delevingne threw the train into the air a second time.

Following the Billboard Music Awards, video footage was also recirculated of Delevingne and Megan at Cardi B's Met Gala afterparty earlier this month in New York City.

In the clip, the stars were seen hitting the dancefloor together, before Delevingne got closer to seemingly say something to the rapper, prompting Megan to hold her back.

With the clips becoming talking points over the past several days, a fan asked Banks on her new Twitter account to "speak on Cara's obsession with black women" late Thursday.

Responding, Banks said: "Cara doesn't have an obsession with [...] black women. It's that upper crust English society full of fake white and jealous white hoes who were never as charismatic as she is that made fake friendships, tried sabotaging her every which way she moved."

After alleging that Delevingne's sister, Poppy Delevingne, contributed to the model feeling "sad and lonely" through "slick" comments, Banks went on: "I always remember Cara literally traveling the world completely alone 4 years.

"Lots of English society/media took advantage of that and there were plenty of times I would just hide Cara in my apartment for days at a time to make sure she got some deep sleep and some actual food and wasn't just thrown out amongst the wolves like that," the "Anna Wintour" hitmaker went on.

"Everyone always wanted to use Cara for what they could get from her, and luckily for her—none of them got anything substantial," she said.

Banks added that "deep down I could tell she was (like me) so used to being told ur a bad person that she began to believe those things about her self and go out of her [way] to please people who saw her as an easy route to some fashion/British society clout... all of which they fumbled in the grand scheme of things."

Speaking of the the time she spent with her friend behind closed doors, the musician concluded: "Cara and I just did normal stuff like dress up like mermaids, smoke spliffs and take naps. That's my girl thru and thru."

Despite the speculation and ribbing among fans on social media, it would appear that Delevingne and Megan are friendly, as they arrived at the Billboard Music Awards together and were shown seated next to one another at the Las Vegas show.
