2019's looter shooter is available for free for the next week via the Epic Store as part of a brand-new Mega Sale. You can download Borderlands 3 at no extra cost from now until May 26, with more free games to follow every Thursday.

Borderlands 3 was a fairly divisive game when it launched back in 2019, with many criticizing the game's dated humour and relative refusal to break away from the established Borderlands formula and take risks. Still, for the low price of nothing, it's a heck of a shooter with tons of fun loot and missions that should keep you entertained for a good long while. You could do a lot worse!

In addition to weekly freebies, the Epic Mega Sale boasts discounts of up to 75% on over 1600 games and add-ons. Not too shabby at all.

Highlights include Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade (29% off), Ghostwire: Tokyo (34% off), Far Cry 6 (50% off), and Borderlands spinoff Tiny Tina's Wonderlands (20% off).

In other Borderlands news, Gearbox announced during PAX East that the long-awaited follow-up to Telltale's interactive Borderlands adventure Tales From The Borderlands is currently in development, and that it'll arrive this year.

Gearbox Entertainment Company CEO Randy Pitchford explained that this brand-new entry is being developed “in-house” by Gearbox.

The official Gearbox Twitter account later explained that the new game will focus on a fresh cast of characters, and is to be published by 2K Games (who publish the mainline Borderlands games).
