Early voting ends in Athens and around the state

Kemp leads Perdue in latest polling

Today is the last day of early voting in Athens and around the state, with voters casting ballots in advance of next Tuesday’s election day. Early voting sites in Athens include the Elections Office on Washington Street, the Library on Baxter Street, and the Miriam Moore Community Center on McKinley Drive. There is also the Extension Office in Bogart, the East Athens Tennis Center, and the Depot in Winterville. Early voting in Oconee County takes place at the Elections Office on Court Street in Watkinsville.

A candidate for reelection to a seat on the Elbert County School Board has withdrawn from the race, just four days away from election day: Samantha Rucker is siting health reasons for her decision to step down after a single term. Heather Nestor, who was challenging Rucker in next week’s Republican primary, will be declared the winner and will take a seat on the Elbert County School Board next year.

We are one weekend away from next Tuesday’s primary election day: a new poll from Fox News shows Governor Brian Kemp with a 32-point lead over former Senator David Perdue.
