It looked like the New York Giants had seen the last of wide receiver Kadarius Toney.

While he did have a 189-yard game last season, the issues about him outweigh his on-field performance.

In that game wherein he broke Odell Beckham Jr.’s receiving record for a rookie, he was ejected for throwing a punch at the Dallas Cowboys’ Damontae Kazee.

He also manifested poor behavior during meetings and a lack of desire to study the playbook.

Toney also dealt with a number of injuries, starting with COVID-19 and a hamstring injury during training camp.

He also had oblique and shoulder injuries, forcing him to miss six games.

Toney finished his rookie campaign with 39 catches for 420 yards and no touchdowns.

Seeing no valid reason to retain him, Giants general manager Joe Schoen put him on the trading block.

Missing the 2022 voluntary workouts is also a concern, given his poor performance last season.

However, it seems like Toney is eating a humble pie after what offensive coordinator Mike Kafka said about him.

ESPN’s Jordan Raanan tweeted, “New OC Mike Kafka on WR Kadarius Toney: ‘Doing all the right things … on and off the field.’ Adds he’s been attentive in meetings. Good to work with.”

Positive Change For Toney

Perhaps the threat of being traded made him change his mind.

He dedicated himself to become better and prove that his rookie season is not indicative of his capabilities.

Having an offensive-minded head coach in Brian Daboll might also help him bounce back and become the wideout they envisioned him to be.

This change of attitude will help Toney attain success in the NFL.

Giants fans hope that he will stay this way even during the season.
