BRENTWOOD —The long arm of the law brought Kevin L. Brown back to Contra Costa County earlier this month. Brown was arrested in Texas on suspicion of committing several crimes in Brentwood before fleeing from California.

Brown, a 53-year-old resident of San Pablo, was arrested on a Ramey Warrant. He was taken into custody by Brentwood detectives who traveled to the Lone Star State to apprehend him.

Brentwood police announced Brown’s arrest, after the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office filed charges against him on May 12. He was arrested on the morning of May 5.

Brown was transported and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility. Brown faces charges for felony assault, felon in possession of a firearm and burglary.

He has since been transferred to the West County Detention Facility in Richmond. Pending a court hearing scheduled for him on May 20, Brown remains in custody in lieu of $650,000 bond.

This is not the first time Brentwood detectives have traveled outside of California to track down a suspect. In recent years, Brentwood detectives have taken suspects into custody in Georgia, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Utah.

In a prepared statement Brentwood police said. “We are committed to holding suspects accountable in our city even if it means traveling out-of-state to locate them. We want those who have committed crimes in our city to know that our investigations don’t conclude should they flee our jurisdiction.”
