A man wanted in two states, including on an attempted murder charge in Baltimore, is now wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service.
James Hilson, 35, is accused of shooting at a driver in a car in Baltimore back in September 2021.
According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Hilson then fled to North Carolina where he had an encounter with law enforcement in a town called Kinston.
“Deputies attempted to conduct a driver's license checkpoint,” said Deputy Al Maresca, with the US Marshals Service. “Instead of stopping, Hilson took them on a high speed chase. Hilson allegedly went through the city at a high rate of speed before crashing the motor vehicle and fleeing.”
Hilson also violated his federal supervision, Maresca added.
“He had been on federal supervised release since being out of prison. Back in 2019, he was charged as a felon being in possession of a firearm, aiding and abetting. And as a result, when he got out he was on federal supervised release.”
Investigators believe Hilson is either in Maryland, North Carolina or traveling between the two states.
Maresca warned Hilson should be considered armed and dangerous.
“They should not approach him but it's very, very important we get this guy off the streets,” said Maresca.
Hilson stands at approximately 6 feet tall and weighs about 170 pounds. He has a tattoo below his eye.
