Just before 7:00 am, Thursday Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash with injuries that occurred in the 13000 Blk of W. Milledgeville Rd.
Upon arrival, Deputies determined that a Pacifica had been eastbound on Milledgeville Rd and had crossed the centerline and collided head on with a pickup, which had been westbound.
The Polo Fire Department and Ambulance and the Milledgeville Fire Department responded to the scene to extricate and treat the occupants of both vehicles and to extinguish a fire that occurred in the Pacifica after the collision.
The driver and only occupant of the pick-up, 31-year-old Thomas B. Knipple of Polo was transported by the Polo Ambulance to KSB Hospital in Dixon and was later flown to OSF St. Anthony’s Hospital by Life Flight helicopter for treatment of serious injuries.
The Ogle County Coroner pronounced the driver and only occupant of the Pacifica, a 37-year-old male, dead at the scene. The driver’s name is not being released at this time pending the notification of family members and will be released later.
The crash remains under investigation.
