The man accused of killing a construction worker Tuesday night in a drunken driving crash asked a judge to remain held without bail during his first court appearance Thursday.Christopher Asher, 48, appeared via video link from the Anne Arundel County Detention Center. His attorney requested to waive the bail review.Lizeth Guzman, 56, was struck shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Davidsonville Road and Kings Retreat Drive. She died of her injuries at a hospital.Asher lives in a house nearby on Kings Retreat Court in Davidsonville.Asher's lawyer declined to speak with 11 News about the decision or other details relayed to the judge that Asher works as an investment adviser, has substance abuse issues, is married with two children and his wife said he can return home under house arrest.Asher allegedly told police he started drinking at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. He failed field sobriety tests, and a Breathalyzer test showed he was nearly twice the legal limit, according to police.Asher remains held without bail on four criminal charges, three of which are felonies that carry a maximum penalty of 21 years in prison.
