Artgel Jun Anabo, was the co-owner of hotspot Lucky Three Seven, at 2868 Fruitvale Ave., the paper reported.

The restaurant's menu features popular items like G-fire chicken wings and chicken adobo, but was also known as a community spot that helped out by providing free meals when needed, according to the paper.

"Lucky Three Seven will be taking some time off until further notice," the restaurant wrote in a post on its Facebook page on Thursday. "We apologize for the inconvenience."

"We have entered a time of uncertainty. And although Jun would want us to keep it moving and keep it pushing… we find ourselves lost without him," the post said. "Jun Anabo, co owner of Lucky Three Seven has died and we are praying, crying, and hoping for any light."

According to another post to the restaurant's Facebook page, police responded to a report just before 9:44 p.m. Wednesday of possible shots fired. The alert came from ShotSpotter, a gun detection system, according to the post.

Police located the victim at Fruitvale and Brookdale Ave., and began performing CPR. Officers located shell casings at the scene.

Despite the attempts of paramedics also on the scene and transporting Anabo to a nearby hospital, he succumbed to his injuries, according to Oakland Police Department spokesperson Candace Keas.

The restaurant had a significant impact on those that ate there and lived in the nearby community.

"I think Lucky Three Seven is special to me because it's Filipino food in Oakland, which is a rare find that I cherish out in The Town," wrote one user on the restaurant's Yelp page last month.

Many others posted to the restaurant’s social media pages expressing condolences.

"We are regulars there. Had no idea. Please send our prayers and support for the family," wrote one user on the restaurant's Facebook page. "We feel like you all were family to us. We are so sorry to hear this."

"We would like to express our deep condolences and support to the family of JUNO ABADO," said City Councilmember Noel Gallo on Facebook on Thursday. The restaurant was located in his district. "He was a friend, dedicated to his Family, culture, and Oakland."

"Oakland Police Homicide Investigators responded to the scene and began the follow-up investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting," said Keas.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Oakland Police Homicide Section at (510) 238-3821.
