Mission Genesis/Deepwater Black (1997).

I forgot about that series, until I came across it on the youtube channel Faleeple. It lasted for one season (13 episodes). I remembering watching a few episodes and after the television series cancellation one of the main cast, Nicole De Boer starred as 'Ezri Dax' on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Gordon Michael Woolvett as 'Seamus Zelazny Harper' in Andromeda.
