This Sunday marks the one-year anniversary of a mass shooting in North Charleston that claimed the life of a 14-year-old girl and injured more than a dozen others at an outdoor concert.
To commemorate Ronjanae Smith and others who have lost their lives to gun violence, Ronjanae's family and North Charleston community leaders are hosting a kid friendly event and balloon release on Sunday, May 22 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Positive Vibes Ronjanae Smith Center, located at 2025 Reynolds Ave.
Everyone who brings with them their "Positive Vibes" is invited to attend the first annual Ronjanae Smith Memorial Balloon Release and Stop the Violence Event.
Guests are asked to bring purple balloons for the release.
Free hotdogs, cold drinks and jump castles will be available to enjoy at the event.
Multiple speakers will attend, including North Charleston Police Chief Reggie Burgess, Rep. Marvin Pendarvis (D-113) and members of the Positive Vibes family.
