Terence Crawford “100% confident” Errol Spence Jr fight happens in 2022

By Sean Jones: Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford says he’s “100% confident” his fight with Errol The Truth’ Spence Jr. will get made this year so the two can settle who the #1 fighter is on the planet at 147.

Crawford and Spence must fight now because the young 24-year-old phenom Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis is breathing down both of their necks, ready to bring the stars down.

While Crawford & Spence may still have too much experience for Ennis, that’s not a certainty. Boots Ennis’ one-punch power negates the experience advantage that Crawford and Spence have going for them.

With WBO welterweight champion Crawford (38-0, 29 KOs) now a promotional free agent, nothing is standing in the way of him and IBF/WBA/WBC champion Spence (28-0, 22 KOs) meeting for the undisputed championship this year.

“100% confident,” said Terence Crawford to the Porter Way Podcast when asked about the Spence fight. “I’m excited about it. I can’t wait until the contract gets signed. I’ve been waiting for this moment all my life. It’s right there; it’s right there.”

Crawford is ready to take this fight to show the fans what he’s known in his mind since moving up to 147 in 2018, that he’s better than Spence.  Now all Crawford needs to do is prove it to the fans by beating Errol, in reality, this year, and it’s going to be a thrill to see this war.

“The fight that will happen between you and Errol Spence Jr. is right on time,” said Shawn Porter to Crawford. “People feel, ‘We’ve been waiting for this fight, and Shawn had to get in the ring with Terence.’

“It’s happening right on time because this will be a great promotion. I feel like you’re in a position now to promote yourself in ways that you might not have been in that position two or three years ago when people were starving for that fight.

“Now this fight is happening at the right time, and both of these guys can talk some [stuff] when needed. I think collectively, what you guys have done to this point, I’ve been entertained.

“Y’all haven’t gone overboard, and it’s been what it needs to be up to this point. From a promotional standpoint, I think once it’s made, it’s going to be nothing less than stellar,” said Porter on the Spence vs. Crawford welterweight undisputed clash this year.

“I always wanted to be authentic. It’s not me to go out there and act foolish and do the other things people do because they want to be a superstar,”

“I feel like my skills and my talent speaks for themselves. I’m exciting in the ring, and that’s what people pay us fighters for, the excitement they get from us in the ring,” Crawford continued.

“Also, some of them pay for the lifestyle we live, but I’m the type of person, I got an exciting lifestyle, but I would like it to be private,” said Crawford.
