88-year-old man rescued after being trapped under tractor for 6 hours in Nottingham, New Hampshire
An 88-year-old New Hampshire man is hospitalized with serious injuries after firefighters said he was pinned under his tractor for six hours. The Nottingham Fire Chief told WMUR that the man was working in his Nottingham backyard when he became pinned under his tractor. "He was trenching behind his backyard. There was evidence that he had been using the backhoe to trench an area," said Chief Jaye Vilchock with the Nottingham Fire Department.Nottingham firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to cut the fender and remove parts of the tractor just to free him. It's not clear exactly how he got stuck but crews were called to a home on Freeman Hill Road before 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The fire chief said he may have been pinned in that position for six hours and that his wife found him there. He was working with a mid-size Kubota tractor with a backhoe."We used our hydraulic extrication tools to cut part of the tractor away to be able to extricate him. That's correct. He was pinned in there pretty well," Vilchock said. Nottingham police and paramedics from Exeter also helped with the extrication. The fire chief said the man was rushed by ambulance to Portsmouth Hospital where he's in serious condition.
