Lady Hornets Soccer Falls in District Semi-Finals to Maryville

On Wednesday night, the Chillicothe girls soccer club squared off with the Spoofhounds of Maryville High School in a district semi-final game that was rescheduled from the day before.

On a hot afternoon on the pitch, Maryville’s Cleo Johnson had no problem powering her team’s offense.  Her first goal would come from 20-yards out in the 7th minute.

The Lady Hornets had opportunities on the offensive end in the first half but were never had to capitalize. The game would go to halftime with Chillicothe trailing 1-0 after a great 40 minutes from Hadley Beemer in goal.

In the second half, Chillicothe spent most of their time trying to thwart Maryville’s attack, but were unsuccessful on three occasions. Johnson was able to burry two goals in the last 15 minutes of the game to secure a hat trick and advance her team to the district finals with a 4-0 victory over  Chillicothe.

The Lady Hornets put together a season that featured the most wins in team history with 16, the most goals by a team in a single season with 83.  Lucy Reeter broke her own record for goals in a season tallying 33.  Chillicothe took 4th in the Midland Empire Conference this season.
